Laura Fitzgerald, Madison Media Partners media sales consultant, is originally from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. She has lived in Madison for the last 25 years with her husband, Terry, and her adorable corgi, JJ. Laura attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she even cheered for the Badgers as a pompom girl. And the team spirit didn’t stop there –– Laura was also a dancer for the Milwaukee Bucks! While it was only for one season, she recalls, “It was a full year, I’ll tell you that much.” Laura went on to coach the dance team at Madison Memorial High School for three years. As for her children, Ashley, Connor and Cassidy all work or attend college in Minnesota. But the real question: Do they have as much team spirit as their mom?
Beck Henreckson, Madison Media Partners digital marketing content producer, asked Laura some questions so you can better get to know her and her role on our team. You can connect with Laura on LinkedIn and follow her on Instagram.
What was the first job you ever held?
When I was in high school I was a gymnastics teacher for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. I really loved working with the kids and watching them progress in their skills.
When did you join the Madison Media Partners team?
I’ve worked here almost a full year to the day. I came in as a multimedia specialist, focusing on digital marketing. I have enjoyed it, and it’s kept me very busy.
How would you describe the mission and goals of Madison Media Partners?
The ultimate goal is to make sure our clients are thought of first when it comes to whatever product or service they offer. We offer multiple marketing solutions to better tell their stories and reach the best audiences based on target demographics. All throughout the process, we also work with our clients to keep their marketing fresh and relevant.
What’s the biggest compliment you’ve ever received from a client?
The biggest compliment I can get from a client is to hear that I’m considered a vital part of their marketing team; it brings me a great sense of pride. Most recently, Carpets Plus of Wisconsin mentioned this to me. I’ve been working with them for about one year at Madison Media Partners, and I also worked with them before I joined this team when I worked in direct mail marketing.
What’s a piece of marketing wisdom that’s been shared with you recently from a colleague, peer or client?
The best marketing advice I’ve been given was from one of my former managers: Always find a way to tell your story and always be true to your mission.
Where is your favorite spot to get coffee/drink/meal in Madison?
My go-to spot in Madison is Eldorado Grill, and I was excited that they recently reopened after being closed during the pandemic. I also love Bonfyre American Grille, particularly the jambalaya there.
What is one of Madison’s hidden gems?
Rock N Wool Winery, one of my clients, is located just outside of Madison in Poynette, Wisconsin. The atmosphere is really fun, the wine is delicious, and the owners are fantastic –– you’ll always get awesome service. Such a cute place! They were even the 2021 Madison.com People’s Choice Winner for Best Winery, which was so deserved. They were thrilled.
What’s your favorite thing about Madison?
I love Madison because it is a big, small town. It has everything a big city has to offer, with that awesome feeling that you’re in a small town.
